What is BlueGate for Shopify?
A done-for-you setup that links four things: your Shopify store → BlueGate's secure payment page → the Powertranz gateway → your bank. Your bank issues the merchant account and receives the money; Powertranz processes the card; BlueGate builds, tests and runs the connection, and gives you a dashboard for transactions and refunds.

Honest status: today shoppers pay on BlueGate's secure hosted payment page. A native option inside Shopify's own checkout requires Shopify's approval, which is pending.

Why can't my Caribbean Shopify store take cards out of the box?
Shopify Payments is not offered in most Caribbean countries, so stores need a third-party card setup. BlueGate connects the card merchant account you hold with your bank to your Shopify store.
Which processor does BlueGate use?
Card payments are processed by Powertranz, the gateway many Caribbean acquiring banks use for e-commerce. BlueGate is an independent bridge between your store and that gateway.
Where does the money go?
Into your own business bank account, in the currencies your bank agrees with you. BlueGate never holds your funds.
How does checkout work for shoppers?
The shopper chooses card payment, completes it on a secure BlueGate payment page connected to Powertranz (including 3-D Secure where required), and the Shopify order is marked paid only after the processor confirms the payment.
Is this a native Shopify Payments app?
Not yet. Shopify's native payment-app programme requires Shopify approval, which is pending. Today we deliver a managed hosted-payment setup. We'll tell you clearly when native checkout becomes available.
Do I need a merchant account first?
Yes. Your bank issues the card merchant account and decides eligibility. If you don't have one yet, we'll tell you what to ask your bank for.
Do you test before I go live?
Yes. We run approved, declined and cancelled payments, plus a real live payment, before real customers pay.
Can I refund orders?
Yes. Refunds are tracked in your BlueGate dashboard and processed through the same Powertranz path, or directly in the Powertranz portal.
