Compliance & Trademark FAQ
We take the independent-bridge position seriously. This page explains exactly how we relate to Powertranz®, how we use their trademark, and what we will never claim.
Are you affiliated with Powertranz Ltd. or First Atlantic Commerce?+
No. BlueGate is an independent merchant payments platform. We are not owned by, operated by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with Powertranz Ltd. (formerly First Atlantic Commerce). BlueGate provides the software connection between merchants, commerce platforms and supported payment processors.
Why does BlueGate mention Powertranz?+
We mention Powertranz only when identifying the third-party processor used by a specific BlueGate integration. BlueGate has its own name, identity and merchant experience and does not use Powertranz trade dress.
Do customers need their own Powertranz merchant account?+
Yes. You must obtain your own Powertranz merchant account directly from Powertranz Ltd. or one of their authorised acquiring banks. BlueGate does not create, resell, or grant access to a Powertranz merchant account. Without your own account credentials, the plugin will not process any payment.
Are you a payment processor or PCI acquirer?+
No. We are not a payment processor, payment facilitator, acquirer, or money transmitter. We never touch funds. Cardholder data is handled by Powertranz on Powertranz-hosted infrastructure. Our software simply formats requests, signs them with your credentials, and forwards customers to the gateway.
What stats can you cite about Powertranz?+
Only what Powertranz themselves publish, with attribution. We will never present Powertranz's transaction volumes, customer counts, uptime SLAs, or PCI certifications as our own achievements. Where third-party stats appear in our marketing, they are labeled as Powertranz's published figures.
Can you help me get a Powertranz account?+
We can introduce you to known acquiring banks in your region that resell Powertranz, but the application, underwriting, and approval process is entirely between you and that bank. We have no role in approval decisions and receive no commission from Powertranz Ltd.
What if Powertranz asks me to stop using your product?+
Powertranz is welcome to contact us. We will work with them in good faith to address any concerns. In the meantime, all use of the Powertranz® mark on this site is nominative and removable on request — we can rename pages or remove references without affecting the underlying technical integration, which uses public gateway endpoints under your own credentials.
Where does the trademark disclaimer appear?+
On every page footer, in our documentation, in the WooCommerce/Shopify plugin admin screens, and in our marketing collateral. The disclaimer text is reproduced in full below.

Powertranz® and First Atlantic Commerce® are registered trademarks of their respective owners. BlueGate is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Powertranz Ltd. We provide a third-party software connector that lets merchants who already hold a Powertranz merchant account use that account inside WooCommerce and Shopify. You must obtain your own Powertranz merchant account directly from Powertranz or an authorised acquirer. All use of the Powertranz® and First Atlantic Commerce® marks on this website and within our software is nominative and intended only to identify the gateway our software connects to.
